CDC Report: Addressing Social Determinants of Health: Accelerating the Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS
June 25, 2009
The CDC recently released the report "Addressing Social Determinants of Health: Accelerating the Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB." This report presents a summary of the external consultation on social determinants of health held in Atlanta, Georgia, on December 9–10, 2008. Included are suggested top priorities for the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP), as well as information about partnerships and resources required to implement these priorities. The report also provides case studies of models used by different CDC divisions to address social determinants of health.
Along with the publication of the report, the CDC Social Determinants of Health website has been launched to link health professionals to social determinants of health resources provided by the CDC and other organizations. Please visit the website: www.cdc.gov/socialdeterminants/
