Presented for attendees of the 60th AASLD Annual Meeting. This is not an official function/event of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
Participants will be challenged to provide their input on the optimal screening, diagnosis, and initial treatment strategies for HBV-infected patients, followed by expert debate and discussion.

Stanford University, Asian Liver Center Lecture: Dr. John Goopman
The Asian Liver Center at Stanford University is hosting the HM Lui Guest Lecture for Dr. John Groopman, PhD, the Professor and Chair of the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The Guest Lecture with Dr. Groopman is on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 (11:30am-1pm) in Munzer Hall, Beckman Building with a reception following. The title of Dr. Groopman’s talk is “Hepatitis B Virus and Aflatoxin: A Conspiracy for Liver Cancer in China.” The guest lecture is held in partnership with the School of Medicine, Stanford Cancer Center and Northern California Cancer Center.

Key agenda items for this dinner meeting will include:
- Advocacy Training: Expert training on public policy advocacy led by Mona Bormet, Advocacy Program Specialist from the Asian & Pacific Islander Health Forum (APIAHF).
- Viral Hepatitis and Liver Cancer Control and Prevention Act: Update on this upcoming congressional legislation by Corinna Dan, Hepatitis B Policy Fellow from AAPCHO and Chris Taylor, Viral Hepatitis Program Mangaer from NASTAD.
- Physicians Electronic Advocacy Campaign: Update by Dr. Mark Li on his efforts to execute a physicians’ advocacy campaign.
- Information Exchange & Networking: All participants will have an opportunity to make announcements and share news about their programs, services, and upcoming activities.
There will be significant time dedicated to networking. You are encouraged to bring your business cards and program materials. A complimentary meal will be served featuring a 10-course Chinese banquet dinner. RSVP is required for dinner.
